So I am new to mechanical keyboards, having always used laptops. Recently after building a desktop I was recommended one by a friend, and after a look around I decided to purchase one of the new razer blackwidows.
I have noticed when typing and playing with it that quite often the keys will double tap the same letter causing two of them to appear in a row which is very annoying.
I was wondering if this is a fault with the keyboard (ie. dust under the keys) or something more sinister or simply something that you get used to in the transition from silicon domes to mechanical switches?
To give you a backstory, I bought a Razer BLackwidow 2014 (with Razer keys) about 6 months ago. Over time, it started to double type a number of keys.
I went with an RMA (I bought it direct from Razer) and they were going to send me out a new one, but they were out of stock so I had to wait.
While waiting, I ordered a Razer Chroma from somewhere else. It came, and again had the problem of double-typing on the up-motion. I got an RMA, sent it back, got another Razer Chroma, which DID THE SAME THING on different keys.
I received from Razer a new BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 soon after, but again, the same fault was there on different keys.
I have now had 4 faulty Keyboards from Razer, and I've put in another 2 RMAs for latest 2. During my frustration, I was contacted by the Razer CEO and their Tier2 customer services. They said they are now looking into this situation as I noticed this is happening more and more on review sites.
I have to give Razer credit, their customer service has been fast responsive and excellent. Razer are now sending me a replacement Chroma, for no cost, even though I did NOT buy a Chroma for them originally (for my BW 2014 RMA).
However, I've now bought a Ducky DK2108S Zero Zone Blue LED Mechanical Keyboard (CherryMX Blues), it arrived today and it's excellent.
If Razer can sort out their build quality issues with their Razer Keys then the BlackWidow Keyboard are honestly great. I loved my Ultimate and the Chroma! Just a shame they switched from CherryMX switches imho.
