New Mechanical Keyboard

I do hope so... Went for that over the k65/k70 as I really like the sound of the silent reds!
To answer an earlier question, RGB will match whatever colour scheme I go for. Currently red, white and black... But that is subject to change at any given moment :)

You won't be disappointed, I went for the silent reds too buddy.

Fair enough, I guess to me £30-£60 extra seems a lot just to be able to change the colour!

I see your point. Its all down to Preference. For me having an amazing rig that not only performs amazing but looks amazing and fully customizable is what I enjoy.

Others may not care about appearance.

My PC is my pride and joy, Thats why I treat it with special TLC :D:D:D

There are literally so many mech boards to choose from it would be difficult for any of us to recommend any but our own personal preferences. I have a Ducky shine 3 (which i no longer use) and a Keycool hero 84.

Have a look through the subreddit mech board buying guide and see if any take your fancy!

I'm using the Element Beryllium keyboard which has red keys. Its my second mech keyboard as I originally had a Cherry MX Blue keyboard which was too loud.

This keyboard is great but it is still quite loud!

Next time I will try a brown as I miss having the tactile feedback but its difficult to get a good price if you also want backlit too (which I need as I'm only half decent at touch typing!).

The Corsair is a gr8 keyboard, i love it for the wrist rest and full size enter button (plus the light show looks cool)

But you might want to look out for the G.skill Ripjaw km780 i hear decent things from it and its due to be released soon in the UK.

Cool, thanks. I will be going for the 2014 edition I think.

Just wondering, why do people go for RGB keyboards? Is it just the wow-factor, or is there actually a practical reason?

I use the colours to split different keys into categories for their use.

Some of it is wow factor though lol

CMStorm are great value for money options. I have the Quickfire XT at work (no backlight) and the Ultimate at home (backlight), both are very good and as others have pointed out, there are options without numpads.

For gaming, I'd be inclined towards red or black switches rather than brown.

Well the Strafe is lovely. Feels fantastic, nice and heavy (surprisingly so!)
The MX Silent keys are literally perfect... The modified reds feel fantastic and the sound they produce is almost wooden. Not a 'clack clack clack' sound of the blues for instance. More of a dull sound. Very solid.
The light show is very impressive, infinitely customisable and the fact that the brightness can be turned down makes everything better, I was almost concerned that late night gaming sessions were going to have me dazzled by the keys and have to turn off the backlighting...

Downsides...
A couple of the keys are printed upside down-in my opinion anyway :D
The :; key and the @' keys work as you'd expect but they're upside down...
Shift : is at the bottom of the key and ; is at the top...
Shift @ is at the bottom of the key and ' is at the top...

I don't like that, minor I know but I don't think it's right... Greybeard, do Corsair do this on all of their keyboards? Is it just different to me or is it actually wrong?

On startup the keys are all red... I'd like to pick a default colour that the keys start off as as opposed to waiting for the software to load on startup... Perhaps this can be done, I'll have to have a play with the software.

The Software... Probably not an actual downside, just I've only had a quick play and the software is definitly beyond me... I'll be checking Youtube vids out later I think. I did download a light pattern which went smoothly. Looked pretty too :D

Overall, I'm glad I went with the Strafe. I didn't think I needed a keypad but it has already become apparent that I do... I wouldn't fancy typing a bank card number in without one!

I'm sure there are equally good boards out there for much less £ but as is always the same with Corsair, the whole thing exudes quality. Oh and the textured and slightly canted WASD keys are a joy :D

My mouse' light show cannot keep up with the keyboard now thoiugh... I need a Corsair mouse!!!

If you save the profile to the actual keyboard it will start in that instead of the red and white.

Mine are side by side.

Work as expected though. :D:D

No idea why they change little bits like this. Annoys me! If it's not broken..

My scroll lock light is trolling me. Still not coming back on.
