New mk3 Focus. Has anyone had experience with them?

Hi, of the petrol 1.6 TI-VCT there is now the 105 and the 125 PS engines, the quoted mpg for them both is 35.3 urban. However the quoted figures are often higher than actual, although it is difficult to compare real urban mpg figures on any car due to so many varibles...

I have a 115 MK2, and had the non ti-vct engine MK2 when my ST was rear ended.

Mine achieves around 32 as a long term average (with a few long trips thrown in), but some tanks will be down as low as 28.

The hire car I had sat at 37MPG pretty much the whole time I had it.

My Dad is also getting one on Motability (well, my Mum is but he'll be driving). Should have it Tuesday so I'll give you some impressions and pics.

He's gone for the 1.6l TDci with Titanium spec.

Hi, looking forward to seeing some pics, the spec I want is the 150 ecoboost 1.6 titx, candy red, appearence pack, 18" wheels and the advanced sony sat nav. However I do not want to pay much more than 18-19k for it all, although I'll not actually pay that as I've a p/x. I will get that price and I am just waiting for the dealers to get to the end of the quarter so they have to meet their sales quotas...

I've briefly driven a guy at works 1.6D mk3 and to drive it felt much like the mk2 though the variable rate steering felt a bit odd. The engine was hateful though, but I don't like diesels. The cabin seemed nice enough but not really any better than the mk2, in fact styling wise I prefer the mk2.

Theres issues with the Diesel engines and also some parts issues across most Ford models at the moment. Hence the long wait.

Hi, this is correct as most dealers I've spoke to say they aren't shifting the cars, which is why I'm waiting for the time when they have to make their quotas, hopefully I'll get some good discount then.

Bit of an update. I went to the local ford garage and got to sit in one. I'm very impressed, the seat is very comfy and everything is within easy reach. Wasn't able to test drive one there and then because the Motability specialist wasn't there at the time. I'm hoping he'll ring me back later in the week though. The one thing that worries me is the possible time it'll take to get the car if i decide to buy. I don't really want to wait 3-5 months to get one.

Interesting logic there

Hi, whoops, realised what I wrote there, must be the drugs :D However it's not all my money as I've a very loving girlfriend who gave me the deposit for the last car and will again for the Focus, she doesn't ask for it back, and don't ask what I have to do, just she is very happy ok ;-)

Hi, yes it could be that long if you've got it on order from the factory, however there is an excess of the Mk3's out there so they might be able to source one to your specs from another dealer. Ford are not alone with delays on car orders, I heard about someone who'd ordered a Hyundai x35, after a year he gave up as they still hadn't got it to him.

I decided not to go for the Focus in the end, the waiting time put me off a bit and i had trouble getting out of it with my dodgy hip so that was a concern.

I've settled on a Renault Grande Modus instead. It's higher, easier to get out of and practical for what i need it for

They reckoned about 6 weeks to get a car in the spec i wanted whereas Renault had the car there on premises. But it's more to do with getting in and out, the Focus is a good car but it's just a bit too low for me to get out of.
