new mobo not happy with ds3

Depends on the RAM.

Can you get the RAM to run at 1066mhz with the fsb at 266mhz (would be the x4 memory multiplier)?

There is no option on the DS3 to run it any slower.

So with the DS3 one needs good ram to get the higher clocks

ive replaced battary
and yes i know ** not being cheeky i got my m8 who has almost the same setup as me same bored same cooling only thing different is the ram he has normal OCZ ram and his system runs fine. i had him look at it and he cant figure out why it wont post with stock fsb of 1.87 and ram up to 900
as where his system is 3.2 1000mhz ram

as for not sticking with asus i heard the ds3 was good

but thanks for the imput into this guys

Why would he want to run it any slower? He has pc8500.

And i do have a DS3 ;)

Have you tried the RAM in both sets of slots? My yellow slots don't like going over 840mhz, whilst my red slots will go over 1000mhz.

I was looking to get this board EVGA 680i but what are the cheaper alternatives.Am new to all this and i havent upgraded for awhile plus ive never overlocked Yet but i still would like a good mobo

If you're getting a 680i then get the EVGA. They are the only ones doing a free upgrade to the newer revision board at the moment. The others might, but you run the risk of having a hard-to-sell board when the quads come down in price.

oopps to late bfg orderd o well when i do go to quad i'll problay just get a new mobo again and cpu and ram
been tinkering with my system i haven't got the ram overclocked still at 866mhz but i did notice when playing games it was really laggy so i did as cob sujested change the ram in the different dimm slots and that seems to have made the lag go away :D
cheers cob going to keep the bored and do another system ie 2 conros

cheers COB m8
