My PC has had an intermittant power loss issue for quite a few months now on and off and today it keeps powering down so I decided i'd had enough and ordered a last minute replacement so I can get it done over the weekend.

Can’t fault the Gigabyte board really as I purchased it in Aug 2019.

I don't need another X570 so i've ordered an Asus ROG Strix B550-F gaming to keep the system running for another 2 years or so. I've already got a 5800X3D AMD so couldn't afford the expense of upgrading all the components.

Can anyone confirm the B550 Asus rog strix is any good? I was hoping to get the MSI B550 tomahawk but the delivery was the middle of next week.

Edit, just cancelled the Asus and ordered the MSI B550 tomahawk instead. Fitted one to my daughters PC and was impressed and has a front panel USB-C header which the Asus does not have for some reason.

Just hope my system limps along until next week!

Let us know if it fixes it.

PC is now not switching off lol. Did this some months ago and I purchased a tomahawk to fit and it then behaved itself so I used the board on my daughters PC.

I think i’ve scared it as it knows it’s being replaced lol.

Damn thing still working this morning.............

What happens is the PC intermittantly just shuts off with the CPU fan still running and memory LED's still on and also LED's on the 4070S still on. Have to turn off the power button on the PSU and then it powers up ok for some more time.

Have replaced the Corsair 1Kw PSU for another identical one and still happens, swapped the memory out between mine and the daughters PC and still same and was happening on old GPU also. Can only think it's 75% mobo or 25% the cpu.

Temps are also ok, between 43 - 50deg idle. Shuts down when just browsing also so not a stress related thing playing games. Temps on my two M2 drives are around 45-50deg and they both have heatsink's.

With the mobo being 5 years old I can only think that is the first thing to try. Going to swap out the mobo, install a new M2 gen4 drive and install fresh Windows 11 (using 10 at the moment).

Don’t understand this, was working all day yesterday coding video in a room which was 30deg and no power issue.

Might just try plugging the power cord into the wall instead of my UPS just in case its a brownout issue.

Any whea errors or anything else showing in event viewer just before it off?

Nothing in the logs and Windows just starts normally when its powering back up again. I expected it to fail again the past couple of days but its been working fine even in a room with 34deg heat.

The new mobo arrived today so I either fit it and do a fresh install of Windows 11 or keep it to one side and see how the PC goes (still on Windows 10 and all apps working nicely).
