New mobo without reinstall?

Hi all,

What are the chances of getting away with changing from an Asus P5N E sli to a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P without a windows reinstall?

Windows XP Pro is the OS.

Any advice on getting this to work appreciated.

no probs... it's old, but still very applicable.

must have 50+ mobo swaps under my belt without a reinstall, and he sum's it up far better than I could.

The motherboard seems like the most difficult component to accept a hard drive but it's probably the most simple. It might pass the details of the other components to the drive but put simply that's all it does.

Obviously read the link for full details but whenever you move something new or old into an existing machine the major problem is drivers
