I am looking to buy a new monitor for my gaming PC.

I currently have a 24 inch 144hz monitor, but want something bigger.

I'd like something at least 27", 144hz and highest HD possible. I've been looking at ultra wide and curved, but getting confused with all the tech jargon so would appreciate the help and guidance. I have a budget up to £400.

I have a 1070ti gpu - not sure if this is relevant.

Thanks in advance.

depends what games you play.. but 165fps in 1440p is not easy on 1070ti
depends on the game and depends what detail level you will be satisfied with..
1920x1080 ~2mln pixels
2560x1400 ~3.7mln pixels
so nearly twice as much

Would it be okay if I played games normal HD, 144z, then 4k/1440p for YouTube/general browsing.

That would be fine. I would question though whether you really need 4K. It may be fine for you but even 3440x1440 at 34" is too fine for me. I have to use scaling or it really hurts my eyes after a days work.

I'm in a very similar boat, I currently have a 1060 GTX and am looking to upgrade to 1440p this month and eventually a new graphics card probably next year. I think 1070 TI could easily handle 1440p for a while depending on the game. For competitive games like CSGO it would be perfectly fine, for more demanding games you would have to lower some settings to high/medium but would probably still get playable framerates (~60ish).

For what its worth the monitor I'm going for is this one : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...een-led-backlit-gaming-monitor-mo-05b-ao.html
It's well reviewed, VA so good contrast and apparently good response time for a VA panel along with useful gaming features such as Freesync-2 and 144Hz+. No ultrawide or curved though if that's what you want though.

1070ti will be plenty for e-sports games.. but it will struggle with modern AAA tittles ... depends what you want to play...
I am finding my 1080ti to struggle in 1440p in modern games with all bells and whistles maxed out (even Division 2 which i played for a while hoovers around 60-80fps.. to get over 100 I need to lower details to medium

I can tell you that my mate with GTX 1070 bought LG 27GL850 and with some games he is pretty happy.. but he bought with a plan of upgrading to 3080...
you always have to match gpu to your resolution.. 1080p is significantly easier to drive the higher you go the better gpu is required...
