I've just a new monitor and every 30mins-1hr the screen momentarily blacks out - for approx 5 seconds before coming back to life as though nothing ever happened.

It's an Acer ET430K 43-inch UHD Monitor (IPS panel, 5ms, HDR Ready, DP, HDMI).

Before this I was using a cheap Acer TN screen connected via HDMI and had no similar problems.

Now I'm using Displayport to connect it. My graphics card is a Inno3D GeForce GTX 1070 which hasn't displayed any problems to date.

The set up is in a fairly cool room.

Not sure what else might be a pertinent factor.

Can anyone help me diagnose the problem?

Thanks a lot.

Fairly common and the most likely cause is a poor quality cable and/or interference.
Ah, many thanks. I've ordered another cable just in case but as to whether it's any better quality than what's in place... I'll have to wait and see.

Cheers for the assistance.

If the monitor has any sound features (and you aren't using them) disable and/or turn the volume to zero on the OSD - there was a spate of UHD panels around 4 years ago where the auto power saving for the audio would kick in periodically causing the screen to either "pop" (whole display distorted) or black out momentarily (shouldn't really be happening with more recent displays though).

Those high resolution/refresh displays can be quite sensitive to cable length (in earlier days I had to stick to 1.8m or shorter cables to ensure reliable operation) as well potentially causing intermittent retraining but usually you will see parts of the display go black in rectangles momentarily before it flickers/goes black and then brings the proper picture back again.
