Hello guys.
After a bad experience of trying to buy a second hand monitor (Dell U2317H) i've realised i have to buy new.
I have a Dell Laptop 5480. I would like to learn coding, and for that, i'll need a second display. The budget is max £200.
Do you think I should get a gaming one?(1ms and 144hz). I was thinking about new Ryzen gen, and maybe i will buy a better desktop than my laptop in the future.
My space on desk is limited, the total lenght of it i think it's 1m(my laptop is not so big).
Any ideas?
Thank you.

144 Hz is only of use if you're gaming; you're not gaming so don't bother. What I would suggest is you get a monitor that can be put into portrait mode. This will be much better for text / coding work.

If it's just for work/coding then an IPS panel (larger viewing angles and great on the eyes) with a 16:10 aspect ratio (more vertical real estate) should be considered - easy height, tilt adjustment and, as mentioned by @Quartz, portrait mode can be very useful (screen swivels 180 degrees).

I personally like the DELL Utrasharps - for your budget you could get the DELL UltraSharp U2415 24 Inch - IPS, 16:10, VESA, plus all of the above features and just falls into your price bracket - but OCuK don't sell it unfortunately.

Amateur you tube review - but demonstrates features:

DELL 16:9 and 16:10 direct comparison:

I do like games and i was considering buying the new Ryzen platform( june/july), that's why I was asking. I don't want to be a poor choice for me. I'm kinda undecised.

Well if you plan on getting a semi/decent GPU this will accommodate nVidia and AMD:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £208.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Out and out gaming monitor though - TN panel, narrow viewing angles and tilt only - review.
