Good afternoon all,

Just a quick technical question, I have bought both a new Motherboard (B450M Mortar Titanium) and CPU (Ryzen 7 3700X). Having no previous AMD processors, is it possible to update the BIOS with only a USB pen drive with the relevant BIOS or will I need an old processor first and foremost to boot etc?

Kind regards,

Make sure you unzip bios to the USB flash drive, make sure flash drive format in fat 32 OR NTFS
you don't need to power on the system, just make sure you connected the 24 pin & 8 pin to motherboard

As per @Darren_uk instructions, however, one other thing, you must rename the bios file that you put onto the root of your USB stick to "MSI.ROM" without the quotes.

It it fails to flash, format your USB stick to NTFS and then try again.............long story: See post 140 and 142, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=320889.100 post 100 is full instructions on how to use bios flashback, also includes a video.
