New Motorcycle boots - Sidi Evos?

I have just been getting myself some kit ready to buy a bike and have opted for a pair of these:

I tried quite a few on in the shop and found these to be the best fit and very comfortable, can't comment on use on the bike yet as I am still on the lookout for one of those! (but got my lid, gloves, boots, jacket all ready now :))

I have the vertigo's myself, after a few hours they were as comfortable as a pair of trainers! Only problem I had was the water leakage if out for a period of time in the rain! Not what I thought I would get from a pair of SIDI's.
However a friend of mine who I used to ride with back in the day has a pair of the alpinestars pictured above and his were 100% waterproof, almost like a pair of wellies when it comes to water protection, they have a waterproof inner boot then the hard protective outer boot. Personally for summer riding the sidis will be second to none, for all weather riding the AS's would be a better choice :)

Pretty sure the vertigo's are not supposed to be waterproof they are summer boots cant imagine them being very warm in this weather either theyre vented lol, got some Puma's myself just goretex ones, very warm and waterproof but too warm for the summer.

Were they the correct size?

I mean, if you have size 11 in everything else, would a size 11 pair fit, or should I got for 12s?

Hi,

I got half a size smaller than I thought I would need, but I did try a few on (different sizes and types of boot), they aren't the quickest things to get on or off, but once on they are great and they are in euro sizes and are done in 1/2 size increments so should be easy to find the exact size for you.

Best bet is to pop into a shop and try them on to find the correct size (I tried any colour on as I wanted to find the size I needed). I then tried to order them online first but had no luck (were £20 cheaper online), most places that advertised them where selling last years ones which are slightly different colours, in the end I went back to the shop and they had to get them sent from another branch as only 1 pair left in my size :)

I use Puma Moto 1000's mega comfy, but the price tag isnt the nicest but you get what you pay for I always think in life.

Right. I went down the local dealership and tried a few boots on. Lucky, because the ones I 'would' of got, I couldn't get on my feet!

I've gone off the vertigos a bit. I'm after something a bit more subtle looking.

I liked the Alpinestar SMX-R's, however they weren't £70 better than SMX-4's. So I've just bought a pair of them.

They may not be completely waterproof, but then I'm not a big wet weather rider anyhow.

Thanks for all the advice.

i have these, i have quite large legs ( ex rugby) and these were one of the only boots that fitted me, they were a royal pain at first but after a week there now the most confortable footware ive got! there warm enough for winter riding, and in the summer there vented to let air flow in , the best part is the ratchet at the back to tighten the boots round your lower leg so they really support your ankles. do it!!!!

Too late. I got the As's. The Sidi's were just a bit OTT looking for me. Wanted something subtler.

The rain evo's looked too boring and the more subtle, but good looking sidi's were too expensive.

fair do's i love the sidi's though....

all ok now from your prang then??
Kind of. The ankle is still not up to doing sport yet. I can walk fine and I'm getting to the stage where I can 'trot' a bit. Its not ready for running but hopefully after a few more weeks in the gym I'll get it back to full strength.

Should be fine for changing gears now at least.
