Hi,

I currently have the Mionix Castor, which has been a good mouse, though as often I find the case to be it's the mouse wheel that begins to give out first. The side buttons also seem to be doing their own thing and unfortunately, it's out of warranty.

I don't need anything crazy expensive but I don't want something too cheap either. What is a good VFM mouse? I've spotted a couple of mice on here which I'll link, what do you think?

Edit: whoops, I think the bottom link may be for Mac only...

Cheers.

The G203 you will probably find too small compared to your Castor (due to the Castor being more of a palm grip mouse), the Rival 110 is more close to this but is ambidextrous.

I think the G403 is probably more what you are looking for. The Castor shape is quite nice though!

@Cooler running - I think an MMO mouse might be wasted on me though of course without trying one I can't be sure of that.

@JamieH - yeah, I did wonder that myself. I'll check out the Rival 110 and G403; I may well give an ambidextrous mouse a go.

Yes, I like the Castor, it's rather a nicely designed mouse. Stylish without being OTT.

As my keyboard has also started to give up the ghost after about 8-9 years of use, I've just picked up a bundle (more so for the keyboard/unfortunately, of late it seems to be out of stock on here). It comes bundled with a cheap Coolermaster mouse which at least will serve as a spare while I decide what to get as my main replacement for the Castor.

I was tempted by the Deathadder Essential as from memory, the mouse wheel on an older model I once had was excellent, and at £45, it seems like a good deal for a relatively high-end mouse. The model I had was extremely comfortable to use, too, though at the time I don't think it had quite the build quality of.....say... a similarly priced Logitech mouse.

I used a g403 before I upgraded to a g703 which is basically the same just wireless, love the shape and quality of those mice.

Mice have to be Razer or Steelseries for me.

Deathadder shape is classic with great performance but iffy software. Steelseries feel, features and software are next level.

Since you have something to tide you over, if you are a righty then save up or grab the Rival 710 when there is a deep sale on.

It's what A LOT of us at OCUK use at work and at home.

@NikTheSHNIK - thanks for the input. Yes, I've generally placed Razer among my favourite brands, so I may still consider the Deathadder Essential, or maybe even the Elite if a sale comes along. Perhaps most importantly, I'll also keep a lookout for mice in the Steelseries range; I haven't used them before and I'm actually quite tempted by them as nowadays I like to try different things off the menu, rather than to simply stick to what I've used in the past.

Glorious Model O has been getting really good reviews. Overclockers gets stock on the 27th May AFAIK. Available in black and white, matt and glossy finishes:

I loved the deathadder but after 3 of them all failed within a year I can't go back to them. I think I'll be picking up a Model O at the end of the month as my G502's buttons have started playing up.
