The left mouse button on my G5 (1 thumb button version) stopped working yesturday after transporting my PC from uni back home, so I need a new mouse. The MX518 is the obvious choice but I was wondering if there was anything a little bit different.

Does anyone have the Coolermaster mouse and what do you think? It looks very nice comfy, and has very high DPI.

What about the Razer one?

Or the Roccat mice?

Thanks for any advice.

I can't quite believe that 5600dpi is ever really needed, my G7 goes to 2000dpi and that's more than enough I'd have thought.

As mentioned Logitech's customer support is normally very good indeed, I'd definitely contact them as see what they can offer - usually it's a simple case of them sending you a new mouse and you've just got to prove that you've rendered the mouse inoperative so you can take the simple option of cutting the lead off it or the fun option of properly destroying it.

lets face it, if you're going to do it you should really do it properly. a 10lbs lump hammer is an absolute minimum:D

Definitely, it's a good chance to be inventive. I'd favour attaching it to a rocket if you've got the facilities and space but the problem is you'll need to collect some recognisable parts to prove to Logitech what you've done or at least video it.

I'm just surprised that mouse technology has moved on so much that 5600dpi is available on some of them now.

Hmm that would be fantastic if i could get a free G500. Does it matter what I tell them? Should I say I might have damaged it while transporting it or just that the button stopped working?

MX518 all the way, i think its 1800dpi but it feels great, its fast, and all my mates use it and there hardcore FPS players so its a real decent choice if you need a new mouse.
