New movie - Stardust

I just didn't like the story to be honest. I tried, really I did, the bit where he jumped over the stone wall for the first time I expected to have so much more. (I'm trying not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it).

The scene where the princes were trying to get the upper hand on each other I thought was really poor. The king's acting was awful.

I know loads of said it, but it just reminded me of The Princess Bride, and a poor version of it.

It did pick up a bit towards the end, especially with RDN appeared, but the first hour I was bored, restless and just felt like I was waiting too long before anything interesting happened.

Well I very well may be going to see this tomorow. Really hope it isnt a let down. We all have different oppinions on whats good and crap though, so time will tell :)

Can't be, it's a novel by Neil Gaiman, so unless he's had a sex change and married Jonathan Ross my guess is she simply wrote the screenplay adaptation...

Beowulf coming out soon, also written by Gaiman - guy's finally getting the big screen recognition he deserves! (Guy who wrote the Sandman comics and the novel American Gods if you don't know)

Totally agree Gaiman is great story teller and it does surprise that more of his stories havent been adapted before now.

will probably be going to see this as the missus likes the look of it.

Saw this last night, and I guess it's pretty good - IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!!!!

My main gripes

- What happened to the little hairy man? Tristran just went straight from Wall to the Star, no trees trying to gobble him up etc.
- Didn't make much of a play on the fact that Tristran when in Faerie can locate anything anywhere just by thinking about it
- What happened to the fight between the Lion and the Unicorn!
- I know it was a PG but it wasn't as gory as I would have liked, I mean Primus had blue blood!
- I didn't like the dead brothers of stormhold being portrayed as bumbling
- Captain Shakespeare? Was he in the book? If he was he certainly wasn't a fairy. Although I must admit Bob was quite amusing.
- Yvaine, she had a broken leg ffs, how the hell was she walking all over the place!
- The happy ending 1. Tristran took over the throne straight away, not right 2. They had kids with each other, couldn't have kids in the book 3. They live happily ever after in the stars!!! No they have a happy life together, Tristran ages as normal and dies where as Yvaine lives for all eternity ruling Stormhold by herself as they don't have any heirs.

Quite a few things I was unhappy about there.
