New MSI 670 power edition won't start

IGFX-GFXO-GPP-PCI

Try that one see if it boots with the 670 in. Make sure to put the monitor on the onboard vga socket tho. Just to see if it boots and works with the 670 in and in windows should detect it and maybe install drivers. Then maybe try swapping back to GFXO-GPP-IGFX-PCI?

I will try that, but not until tomorrow morning as most people are asleep in my house, would make to much of a racket. ill report back probably around 9:30 am. anything else i should do if that works/doesn't work? maybe a few suggestions for tomorrow morning? if is till can't get it to work by lunch I'll phone overclockers and get a refund or replacement, replacement if i can and see if the card was faulty

thanks again

Primary video controller: GFXO-GPP-IGFX-PCI

(this is done with the 7870 in, as i cant get anywhere with 670)

other options are:
GPP-GFXO-IGFX-PCI
PCI-GFXO-GPP-IGFX
IGFX-GFXO-GPP-PCI

will any of this help?

thanks so much for your help

GFX0 SETTING IS PCIeX X 16 which is what you want , I have no idea if the option reorders or selects single value
Maybe what you have with GFX) on the left is correct and read left to right on merit...poxy idea :D

You might have an option for surround view, disable that for Nvidia

Were you on that latest bios ?

That's it I can help no more as I'm not around for a few days.

I will say the 670's were not the friendliest with some setups for some strange reasons. There must be loads of stuff out there about it ? Strangely the 680's had none of these issues...does not help you, but if it unfortunately has to go back just tell them the system won't post with the card in they will not give you any bother. I would advise not getting a replacement as that will undoubtedly be the same.

Maybe just get a new motherboard, they look to be under £40 if i'm on the right track

Last thing i can think of really now is my old trick to get somit working which kinda helped my comps with hardware issues but this is like years and years ago so duno if same thing happens.

Ok so comp is off, hold del key down and boot it up and keep del pressed down. This does somit like reset or somit to the bios or it did. That used to get the comp on for me when nothing much worked when the comp failed to post or turn on. I think left ctrl did somit too but not sure.

Long shots and probably useless to even try these days but meh thats all i can think of atm. That or try taking stuff out of the comp like souncards or if you have 2 sticks of ram try take one out or whatever see if somits being incompatible somewhere. Shouldnt need to of course but pff just ideas.

Anyhow really u should just talk to ocuk about all this and take it from there. If they offer a rma say ok but if the card i send back is fine dont bill me cos its not working in my comp and like i said before show them this thread to show what you have tried etc.

thanks again, I'll give the delete thing a try again tomorrow, then if that doesnt work ill send it back, then ill wait for the 7970 to drop in price or for the new amd gpus (8000 series) and just save some more money for a higher end amd card

Thanks again for everyones help!

I'll report back tomorrow wether or not it worked and if i have managed to get a refund

How about this? (the page is in greek so you'll need to translate it or copy/paste into google translate

http://atiman.go-board.net/t64-topic

it seems that this will wipe all amd gpu drivers without effecting the chipset drivers which is something I haven't been able to do, could this help, the 670 may not get past the bios because there is still amd drivers conflicting with it or is this not part of the problem?

Any drivers in windows has nothing to do with it posting or not when you switch the computer on. Only after post and during windows loading screen would any drivers issues show by a freeze or reboot or somit.

Okay, I think ill try it one more time, make sure nothing is touching the card and then if it doesn't work ill get a replacement card to see if this one was faulty (I want to know for the future if i want another nvidia card) if that doesnt work then I'll get a full refund and wait until i upgrade my mobo and change to intel, or the 7970 goes down in price/ the 8000 series arrives

Final suggestions thoughts? The gpu has a metal fan casing compared to the plastic on the 7870, one of the wired from the psu to the mobo is touching the card, could that short it?

If you speak to overclockers. Then ask if you can return it. Might be worth asking them to test it so you will know for sure if its the gpu. Unless you have another computer or know someone that will let you try it in their's.
