So i've been through a couple of different SSD's now and I have decided it's time to get another.

I'm looking for a strong all round drive, something I can run my OS and games off without it struggling. I'll be putting big apps and other crap on the old SSD and HDD's I have.

I had an OCZ drive which caused me no end of problems (RMA'd 3 times, never solved... retired the drive) and i'm currently using a Crucial v4 which struggled massively when I had the OS and games running from it at the same time.

Now i'm looking at something slightly less budget with top end IOPS and a decent read/write to go with it.
My research so far points me to the Samsung 840 Pro's which are quite a spend at nearly £200 for a 256.

My question is, will the drive be worth it or am I better off just getting 2 separate SSD's, one for the OS and another for games? Also, is the 840 pro the best choice for my usage?

the v4 is very poor tbh,idk why they released that drive

ocz have reliability issues

Samsung 840 pro is expensive I agree but if you can catch a good deal its worth every penny, its so fast and reliable(howmany dead samsungs do you see?)

cheaper alternative is the crucial m4 or 840 non pro 250gb

id have one big ssd for most played games and os and a big hdd for your less important/played games

As I found out after I had already spent my impulse-buy money :S

I got mixed reviews on that one so I chose to keep RMA'ing until it fell out of warrantee

That was the idea with the v4 but we've seen how that turned out :(

I guess the 840 pro is my best bet even if it's a big spend. Let's hope fleabay comes through with the stuff i'm flogging at the moment then!

you will only see half the rated speeds though if your using it on the ud5 in your sig due to sata2 speeds only, roughly 260-280mb read/write

to see true rated speeds you need a board with intel sata3 ports on them

Yeah I was aware of that. I was going for a sata 3 drive purely because I know i'll eventually be doing a build with the new intel chip at some point this year.

For now I mostly wanted something that is capable of running the OS and any games I want to play at the same time without having a seizure.

To be honest anything better than this would do:
