New Need for Speed?

Be good to know who in the beta thought about getting NfS before it and after it and if they've changed their mind or delaying/accelerating their purchase

ps3ud0

Had zero interest in the game before the BETA, got a code for PS4 and thought, why not I'll give it a go, now gone from no purchase to me actually looking at NFS rivals on PSN for £10 today as it was the same developers as this, and even considering buying this now as I had a heck of a lot of fun driving around and challenging drivers for a sprint race.

didn't enjoy the drifting, as I never do in any racing game truth told, and the rubber banding whilst it kept the cars bunched up, did annoy me when i'd pull of perfect checkpoints to then mess up one corner and see my lead go and I'm at the back again.

I also saw a few cars pop right in front of me, or even disappear totally. But other then this, I did enjoy the time trialing , sprint and circuit racing..

FMV whilst really well done was a bit cheesy - and the graphics are fantastic. Roads felt a bit empty mind, but maybe due to being gone midnight when you are racing.. Roads are generally more empty late evenings, gone midnight etc..

I had pre ordered and i will be keeping it, apart from a few bugs which should be fixed by launch i really enjoyed it.

Cars popping in and out is well annoying, could be in the middle of a good drift and suddenly a car will appear in your lane, hopefully this will be gone by launch.

Drifting is much much better with a car set up for it and Drift assist turned off, i was struggling to match scores from the AI in a couple races with it on as i could not hold a good line, with it off it felt much more fluid.

FMV is cheesy yeah, but under ground has always been a bit cheese, just the bloody phone that's annoying.

I won't be buying this till its £20 - beta confirms my issues with online-only game where theres really nothing in the game that benefits from it.

But we haven't seen any of the social aspect of the game have we that is why it is always online.

I don't get peoples hang ups on always online stuff (unless you are armed forces who plays on base/on a ship), I mean my console has been connected to the internet since day one.

I guess the next stage of the arguement is talking about what if 'PSN/XBL' is down and how had done by you are you can't play this game you paid for, then the nest step is the OMG they turned off our servers, well at this point I'd suggest the game is dead anyway.

You have to make your crew before you can start a game is my experience, you can't do that if one persons already online - its a terrible experience which Im hoping is fixed for release. Its extremely clunky to play with friends.

There is zero social experience in this game, racing in a crew doesn't give you extra money nor extra rep, there aren't special races for crews only. The open world doesn't lend itself to just cruising because theres no awesome vistas to visit.

The only benefit Ghost Games have said to it being online only is an in-game instagram :/

I obviously didn't get that far in the beta to make a crew, I just did a few races then free roamed as I wanted to keep stuff fresh when the game comes out.

What do you mean you can't create a crew if one person is already online?

Crashes/black screens/unresponsive screens - you name it, it happened. Had to exit and restart the game and could only ever play with friends fresh before going into the garage.

I presume its a beta issue, but even then when it worked theres very little benefit of being in a crew, just less randoms in your open world.

I didn't play in a single crew race or attempt to join one, only did the story mode which i am happy with, i was expecting laggy unresponsive menus just like the message upon start said tbh.

The social side doesn't really bother me, i just want to race and earn money to play around with the cars which it does well.

I enjoyed it more so than the last few NFS games, car seems to handle ok, one of gripe is yes the water is lovely, but really does it need to be wet all the time?

Also seemed to take far to long on little menu loading screens, like leaving the garage there is a load point, staring a race in this day it should all be seamless if games like Witcher can do it which arguably is more graphic than NFS it should be able to do it.

I also loved the sound track on the game as well

I will probably end up getting this, but will wait for the reviews of the finished game,

Also I remember an old NFS game you use to get bonus points for mods/style on your car but this seems to be missing that I found, so fail really to see the point of tarting the car up.

This was on the X1

I like the fact that you don't get points for tarting it up, otherwise you'd have to drive around in a proper chav wagon. Think the point of the customisation is that you can do it if you want it, or you can leave it.

I wont buy it on release as I still have too many games to play but it's certainly something I shall pick up when it gets cheaper or I am bored :)

wow! This is good news! I wasn't expecting a good reception as the recent video's made it look a little pants, but I'm glad all is looking well.

Looking forward to the PC release. Seeing as it's some time after the console release, I hope the developers are not doing a standard port and putting some effort into this :)

Hah, I had it setup on all the middle sliders.. Could barely turn.
Tried it on full drift and I couldn't keep it straight!

Was in the Porsche though.

Didn't really spend much time fiddling with tuning as it was just a quick go on my friends PS4 but I will definitely be picking it up for PC.

About time NFS got good feedback :p

I don't mind waiting for PC but I might have a PS4 by then ;)
