New net connection, am I losing out?

Quick question for a confused man please!

I'm just signing upto a BT 8Meg internet package, am I losing any speed by still using 10/100 LAN Router & network cards?

Do I need a new faster ethernet card to gain the full speed?

10Mbps > 8Mbps (and you won't get 8Mbps anyway), so no?
You certainly don't need GigE, but some (cheaper) routers might choke if you're planning on maxing out the connection for sustained periods of time.

Very little chance of max useage alas (always away working) as long as my Battlefield 2 pings are ok, I'll be happy!
