It's just white-lens-envy. I might get one of those lens-coat thingys, try and pass my 70-200mm Sigma (on my nNikon body) off as a Canon L lens

On a serious note it might just be worth it, my sigma gets a lot of abuse and the rubbery coating has started to peel quite a bit. Doesn't really bother me how it looks but if you intend trading it in or selling it on at some stage the value will be significantly lowered.
