New number plates - where?

r32_bra3.jpg

Is that to hold the front of the car on or something?

^ i can imagine theyre effective. as ever since ive come over ive picked up a shed load of stone chips on my front bumper and lower bonnet area

I would rather pay £200 for a bumper respray when I come to sell the car then spend £200 on a car bra and drive around looking like that.

Seriously, surely stonechips on your bumper look better than dressing your car in a gimp mask?

Had mine done at halfrauds, a little steep at 25 quid but they do all the legal blurb in white or yellow so its near invisible. Were quick to do it, had a decent range of plate sizes and euro logos and they have held up well so far.

*Shrugs*
Go ahead - buy plates with absolutely nothing writting across the bottom of them.
Without the postcode of where the plates were made and the BU number printed on the plate then it's illegal.

Could mean an MOT failure and in theory can also be a £30 fine and form forcing you to correct them in 7 days.

Are they really illegal? There must be millions of older cars on the road with no post code details and such on the plate.

illegal is a bit much, most reputable places on the high street insist on doing it however small, but if your car is pre 2002(?) how can they prove they are not original.

Exactly, why would you pay £200 and make your car look like arse, why not put up with some minor chips then spend the £200 sorting the chips out at a later date.

Pressed alloy plates were common in the 60, 70s, and although less so by then, still going in the 80s. That's what I have on the Manta and the Golf.

The plates that i have on mine are from halfords. I would get them from there as laiman has already said the text which they use is barely visable till you are close up, but is still legal.

They just look naff as we dont really have pressed plates in this country. Just get some normal ones from the dealer for 20 quid and forget about it. Pressed plates are for people with a 15 year old Mk3 Golf with a roofrack on the top and a bonnet bra.

Agreed...

;)

I want some new number plates for my car, the current ones look a bit tatty.

I was looking at this place http://www.platecreator.com/designer/

£25.50 for both inc delivery in the style I want.

I was thinking 3D letters, the Euro stars with GB logo as I hope to drive across Europe again with a black border.

Any other places worth checking?

Thanks

Did you check the ebay or craiglist? I think there are lots of number plates in that sites. Or I can refer you to my friend who creates plates. :D
