A friend has an old s939 system (Core of x2 3800 + 1gb ram) running on a

Asus A8N- Sli Se board.

It is the intention to install windows 7.

I have a 120gb Ocz vertex 3 drive which I have said I'm happy to sell to him to use as the hd BUT I'm now having doubts :confused:

Can anyone see any problems ? - Is the board too old? Etc

Input appreciated

Well for starters that board is only SATAII, so you won't see the quoted speeds of 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write. That motherboard also doesn't support AHCI which means it will take another slight performance hit. You will still see a performance increase though as SSDs have a lower seek time meaning Windows will start and shutdown quicker, applications will launch quicker, etc.

Edit: Looking up A8N SLI SSD on Google brings back lots of people saying that their SSD is not shown in the BIOS, so you may want to test it first
