Hi, can anyone recommend a SATA HDD (1TB +) to be used as the primary OS boot disk ?

Thanks A2BDriver. I'd thought about the SSD route, but I don't view tham as good value at the moment. In a couple of years when they are more mainstream, the price should come down. I'll probably upgrade when I have my next rig upgrade.

I also need the extra storage.

Spinpoints are the way forward, although the lower spin up/seek time of the seagates might be better since its for os use.

Thanks Purgatory, what's the noise like from that drive ?

Only time I hear it is when it parks the heads on shut down, it's noise level is no higher then any other 7200k drive in my opinion and a lot quieter then the Hitachi Deskstars which chirp all the time  ... It's a great drive and when I imaged over my OS to it from the old Seagate 7200.12 I realised it was faster at startup and the programs opened up a lot quicker while using the pc. So really can't complain with it so far.. :D
