New OS - New Hard Drive Question

Hey,

I'm building a new rig atm and just purchased Windows 7 for it. I only have one hard drive at the moment from my previous pc and would like to keep all the programs/music/pictures etc on that to transfer over.

Would it be possible to buy another hard drive and install W7 on that while using the other HD for storage of my files?

Of course you can, A lot of people do this. Just load Win 7 on the new drive, and all the files will be instantly accessible as drive D:, for example

Certainly can, but make sure the old drive is Not connected while you install windows... to prevent an issues, once you have windows up and running you can re connect it and access your old files again
