It would be a miracle if stopping those small factors ensured a clean PC and no need for any sort of protection.

If dear old grandma (spoofed or not) sends you an infected file? if you download a driver that has been injected with something? you could look at checksums, refuse all files from external sources, but it's kind of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I'm not denying user habbits play a huge role in safe systems, i wholeheartedly agree, but i believe nothing to be safe, and take nothing for granted.
