Im gonna build a computer very soon, it involved buying a new mobo.

Will I have to get a new OS aswell in addition? With the current computer I got, I never received the disk with windows, umm... everytime I format its just there basically, like the windows CD is inside all the time, but it isnt.

So ?

Yea, that sounds like you have a recovery partition on the hard disk - so you can restore easily. I assume this is on a PC from a big company - if so then you are dealing with an OEM software license - which doesn't transfer between motherboards. Therefore you will need to buy a new OS if you buy a new motherboard. May I ask, what OS are you currently using?

You can try, but most likely it will be one of these OEM installs where it checks the motherboard and if its not the right one then it won't work properly.

You could try it out, but I don't think the chances of succes are high TBH.

If you already have a Windows Vista product code you could buy the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium (get the 64 bit version if your CPU supports it), which usually costs less than the OEM or retail version and you can still do a fresh install.

Hm right.... kinda confused now.

This is what i was planning on buying

GTX460
Phenom II X2 BE 3.2ghz
DDR3 Mobo
Ram.

So does this mean Ill have to buy a new hard drive aswell ? :/
Could I not just reuse the hard drive i got now and Install a new windows on it ?
