I understand.. I'm thinking about future proofing.

If I got the 1070 now i have the options still then of upgrading the monitor at any point without the GPU.

There shouldn't be any issues with my CPU & motherboard with the 1070 should there..?

There should not be issuies with motherboard if you go for a 1070, the only thing is that you may have to update the bios on the motherboard to accept the 1070. That would be the same as well for the 1060 but only update the bios if the gpu doesnt work.

Ok. Thanks for the advice I'll mull it over this week.

I've never updated a bios so I'll do some reading. Is it difficult?

What's the difference between normal sized cards and mini.

I've see. A good deal on a gigabyte 1070 mini (don't know what the etiquette is for links so.i won't post it)

Are there performance differences ?
 
quick update for anyone that's interested.

I've finally made a decision and bought a Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Edition which is a whopping 300mm :eek:

when i put the PC together I did so with no intention of any cable management but to get this in it needs it.

I've this morning unplugged it and tucked everything away nicely ( the non-modular PSU only has two redundant cables which I've managed to completely hide)

The card will easily fit and I cant wait.

Separate to that the PC is brilliant, the quickest I've ever had (i realise i could have made it better) but i suppose now i have a base it can be upgraded in the future.

Overall i'm really please.

So.

Had a good look around today and the Dell S2716DG has caught my eye.

How would my new setup along with my new 1070 get on with this monitor?

Obviously for the kids stuff id imagine it will be fine but what about games like GTA? Would it struggle with the high refresh rate? would you even notice if it dropped?
