New PC - £2,000 - £3,000 (Video editing, some gaming)

Right! The 9950x3d is up for pre-order now.

How does this build look? Anything that needs changing?
Looks alright.

Based on the issues reported in the tech news about ASRock boards and 9000 X3D CPUs, I'd highly recommend you update the BIOS on receipt, though that may be necessary anyway with such a new CPU.

I asked about the 5080 on GPU thread, not sure I need to spend extra on a different 5080? 9950x3d for £100 more than 9950x seems worth it.
Don't know what a good 5080 is, I'm afraid. Based on what we've seen so far, a 5080 in stock is a good 5080 :o

The motherboard has bluetooth by looks of it? Might be handy for headphones.
It says so in the specs.

After watrching that, I'd be a bit hesitant about as asrock board. I know chances are slim etc, but it's almost like tempting fate...esp if you putting a £700 cpu in there...the 2 9800x3d failures on the asrock board is ocuk forum member. I'd prob just get a diff board...maybe one that compliments the rest of the setup too?

I’m open to ideas:

Anything in particular? USB C might be nice, same for Bluetooth and wireless if it’s not too much more.

That white motherboard would do my head in asstecily.

Psu cheaper alternative.

Is it as good?

I’m a little bit clueless as this thread shows

Is it as good?
Anandtech and THG have reviews, it looks like a decent PSU with a good OEM/platform, but the components are a bit of a mystery (unknown parts/suppliers). The HCG Pro is something we're more familiar with, being derived from the Seasonic Vertex.

Cheers.

Any ideas for alternative MOBO not the asrock one?

I was having a few reads of threads on the x3d saga and boards...asrock now telling people to go to new bios they've released but still, from thread, asrock boards have killed more 9800x3d's than all the other manufacturers together..seen msi tomohawk done as few too, plus on tomahawk thread been a fewe bugs with the NIC turning off

stragely, after the fiasco with the 7800x3d, Asus not been mentioned that much, even though they own Asrock..maybe they learnt from their mistakes . I've put two board in..both have pcie5 gpu and primary m.2 slot, take 3 m.2 in total, have usbc and wifi 7. If you want usb4 40gb then you're back to x870 boards or top end b850 such as the asus strix boards, but they're over £300 and upwards
both below black asd well, so will blend in with every other component you have
I've also put 1 x870e board from gigabyte too...I like it as has an led debug display (always want one of those personally for when things stop working. also has 4 m.2 slots for future storage expansion..3 of them are pcie5, 1 pcie4
