Ok, just got given a PC to fold on. Its a E5200 stock clock 2.51Ghz, has a frezzer 7 pro:D. Il try and clock it a bit, have 2gb DDR2 Geil RAM. GFX is a ATI thing (non fan heatsink).

Il try my best with clocking it but questions for you guys is

What clients shall I run and which OS? XP on at min, shall I just do a fresh install or change to windows 7? 32bit as only 2gb RAM or 64bit? I presume just fold on CPU as GPU will be pointless and just create heat:confused:

Cheers

1) Fresh install of XP, 7 uses more resources
2) Overclock it till its begging for mercy
3) Install the SMP client with a passkey and -advmethods

That will have it producing around 1500-2500ppd once you start getting the bonuses after 10 A3 units returned and what you've got it clocked at.

For reference my rig will hit 2500ppd @ 3.6 and c2d offer virtually the same performance clock for clock

You would be correct.

You should run the same on your Q6600 in sig if that folds aswell as that will produce 5-6k ppd on a3s

E5200 are great little chips, I had mine at 3.6 on a freezer 7 pro 24/7, if you're lucky and have a really good clocker you might be able to get it to 4Ghz :)

Sorry Sig very old. That was my old beast, Water cooled and folded at 3.8Ghz, sadley all sold now tho as had to sell house and downgrade to a smaller place and it was in a HUGE MM case. Have a lappy and now this E5200 rig

As said by dekez, the E5200 will produce a fairly reasonable amonunt of points, you could try and pick up a Q6600 in the MM for £60-70 to pretty much double your output.
