Hi everyone

looking for advice on a new build. budget around £1000 to £1300 gives some room for choices. dont have to spend it all.

the monitor im looking at using

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ium=wtb&utm_campaign=hatch&campaign=wtb/hatch

and the case i have my eye on.
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/thermaltake-view-27-midi-tower-black-window-ca-18l-tt.html

ive got some ideas on diff builds but was just looking for advice, im 95% gamer and 5% streamer and i think im sticking to 1080p so basically wanting to max out power for 1080p.

just any advice would be welcome

thanks

It looks like Nvidia are giving up on GSync, so Freesync is the way to go, but get a Freesync monitor that's good enough to work with GSync cards. OCUK have a list here. though there are others.

Ok, I'll go for the £200 monitor. I'll buy a second at a later date cause Ill have to have them matching.

I play all kinds of games tbh. Division / anthem Might pick up cod as my current pc couldn't run it.

Heads up, MSI (about 4 models) and Aorus (only have a single monitor) have been tested internally and all are g-sync compatible. both seeking G-Sync cert from start of this week I believe . no idea how long that takes though- then for Drivers to be updated nvidia side to auto enable it etc

Kk well. I'm in no rush to buy a monitor, it's more the pc as my current pc is definitely grinding to hault.

ryzen 2600 plus vega 64 - UK RMA with Gigabyte and Corsair (corsair just replace with brand new unit) along with rep support on here from both

could push extra for MSI B450 Wifi - anoher case you might want to look at if you like clear views is the Lian Li Dynamic! use this myself

both above would be solid for 1440p 60hz screen monitor as well or if you can push 75hz +

nice 144hz 1440p freesync monitor- should get approved very soon

Thanks I'm thinking I'm going to go Intel i5 and a 2060.

I don't want huge screens as I prefer dual monitors and space issues etc. Two 24' to 27' monitor is about my limit.

The case will be on the level with my monitor so that's why I'm looking at side panel view I'll actually be able to see inside so I'm probably thinking let's go a little nuts on aesthetics Rgb inside and side mount the gpu That's why I like the full view case.

So if I go i5 and a 2060. Decent mobo.

The ramm is there much diff In 3000-3200 ?

Thanks for replys so far guys

It's a pity that the window on the Thermaltake View 27 is acrylic. It's not half as nice to look at as glass, especially when stuff gets lit up. Also check how good its vertical GPU implementation is, as newer cases have probably improved on that a bit.

Not really, there's always a little but diminishing returns. AMD Ryzen benefits more from faster RAM but ironically finds it harder to run it than Intel.

Put it this way though, £130 for 16GB 3200 is cheaper than it's been for the past two years. But if you go with 3000 it's not a big deal.

Well thats the info im looking for, go glass and not acrylic. its going to be on display so looking at it each day for the next few years needs to be factored into the build.

I know the ramm prices and gpus have finnally come back down in price which is great news for me :)

my current pc i built five + years ago so i like to make them last.

Personally I enjoyed the 27" 1080p I had a lot, and found it was perfect size. None of this "you can see the pixels". For monitors nothing beats hands on experience. Try it yourself ;)

Think about it like this, 27" 1080p has the same pixel density as 55" 4k. Is anyone saying these pixels are too big for these tvs? Ofc not, but people repeat what they hear so that's why there's this stigma against 27" 1080p monitors.

My brother has a Samsung 27" 1080p PLS. I can see that the text is less sharp than on my 24" 1080p IPS (both are connected with HDMI). However, I cannot tell the difference when it comes to images. So I'll agree half-way, Poneros. :)

It probably bothers some more than others, and the viewing distance from the screen can make all the difference. If I sat further away from the 27" I probably wouldn't notice the text difference.

you should see what im currently using.i think my screen was made in 2006 , tears like mad on most games.anything i experience will be leaps and bounds above what im using now.

Does it tear even in windowed borderless, or windowed modes? When in-game windowed mode sucks, I use an old app that still works wonders (Windowed Borderless Gaming Tool) with a custom size so I can see my task bar at the bottom but not the title bar at the top. Don't get any observable tearing that way. I do in fullscreen usually.
