New Pc build, been out of the loop for a while.

Well I found my PSU I was speaking about earlier and I've just tested it and it still works fine.

Its a Corsair HX520w Modular PSU with all the cables still in its neat little Corsair Velcro Bag.

Would this still pack the punch to run the above spec? Or will there be compatibility issues.

I also found my old case, a Lian Li PC7 plus. Which should fit everything in unless gfx cards are now stupidly huge and take up the entire length of the case. :p

I've noticed the mobo has a 8pin 12v connector next to the CPU socket, but the Corsair HX520w only has a 4pin plug for the job.

Potential issue here?

You can use a 4pin ATX into a 8pin ATX on the board.

Some bards come with a little cover blocking four of the pins off for lesser PSU's

Got everything today, installed the cpu, cooler and the ram onto the motherboard.

Fitted the motherboard into the case and connected the PSU, connected the power switch and pressed it to see if there was any life in it.

But there was nothing  24 pin ATX cable connected correctly, 8 pin 12v cable connected correctly (There was one on the psu, me just being dumb. :o) and the CPU fan is plugged in.

But there was no signs of life, no little LED's turning flashing on the motherboard or anything.

I've already tried different kettle leads and swapped the fuses in them too.

I'm stumped. The PSU was fine a few days ago.

*edit*

Just shorted the psu using a paperclip and the psu starts up started fine.
