My son wants me to build him a gaming pc and would like some help picking parts. It will be used with a TV 1080p 60hz , I will be upgrading to a 2k free sync monitor probably sometime next year, I am looking to spend £700 or less , I want something I can also upgrade when I need some extra power , also if possible something compact don't want a tall tower case.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £739.15 (includes shipping: £12.30)

itx and wifi (UK RMA on the board) - though case only allows max length GPU of 280mm and 2.5 slot coolers.

would recommend pushing the Pulse over the Dragon or any other brand- rma not so good

worth checking out this case for £70

also, rival site doing ryzen 2700 for £205!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking a micro atx motherboard might be better for upgrading down the line.

depends on your turn of upgrade, that ITX there has better VRM then most matx and atx boards. only issue is Ram slots and rzen isnt the best with 4 slots populated.

you also have Wifi which only ATX boards have , will set you back £125 for MSI B450 Carbon Wifi

matx are that much smaller then ATX boards .

this atx case is smaller then most mATX cases :)

Maybe check out: http://metallicgear.com/products/Neo-Series-uATX-SR at 190mmx410mmx385mm. At £75 bit hefty for £700 budget but looks good quality. Black model also available.

The silver would go well with an MSI B450M Mortar Titanium. Black would go well with the normal MSI B450M Mortar. Buildzoid said if going with AM4 micro-ATX it's pretty much best choice compared to competing micro-ATX boards and that the mosfets are quality and heatsink is good.

Silver theme spec:

Ryzen 2600 - £146.50
MSI B450M Mortar Titanium - £95.18
G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz Silver/White - £120
Western Digital Blue 3D NAND 500GB SSD - £53.99
Seasonic Focus Platinum 550W - £74.99
Metallic Gear Neo Micro Silver - £74.90
Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 570 Gaming 4GB - £139.97

Total - £705.53

Black theme spec:

Ryzen 2600 - £146.50
MSI B450M Mortar - £88.97
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4 3200MHz Black - £112.34
Western Digital Blue 3D NAND 500GB SSD - £53.99
Seasonic Focus Platinum 550W - £74.99
Metallic Gear Neo Micro Black - £74.90
Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 570 Gaming 4GB - £139.97

Total - £691.66

RX 570 4GB for 1080p 60Hz will be okay, especially if you plan on upgrading monitor and therefore GPU, next year.

Bit annoying that 3200 RAM is £20-30 more expensive than 3000, especially for a Ryzen spec. You could shave off some there if you don't regret not getting the 3200 for a bit extra performance.

That case could do with a couple of good value for money Arctic Cooling P12 120mm fans.

I think I will go with this build , the only problem is I don't like the case , I have looked at a few cases and came across this one
"Thermaltake Core V21 " just wondering if it would be a good fit for this build?

Looks like it. Can tell you that with horizontal motherboard placement the sockets get very full of dust (just cleaned out a system like that a couple days ago while trying to fix it). The Core V21 allows vertical placement too so if you have no favourite, I would recommend vertical. Although I don't know the pros and cons of that for other things to do with that case (amount of drives etc).
