New PC build. Now or hold on for DDR5

I have decided just to see if I can get a GPU and see how the system holds up around it.

Not going to pay these ridiculous prices that are going about at the moment though.

Thanks for everyone's input.

waiting myself .. can't see me upgrading till next yr still on my 1700 and vega 64 .. then it will be my last upgrade at 55yrs i'm starting to see how slow i'm getting in shooters .. reflexes just aren't what they were :p
Seriously depressing when my 14yrs old whips me in every shooter....half the time he just follows me round without me knowing, the other he picks me off before I can even get the crosshairs on him...I've, I've....turned into my Dad:eek::cry:. I'm beginning to limit myself to Sea of Thieves so my reflexes can keep up

It's a good choice, the 4790k is still a very strong CPU unless you are doing high FPS 4K / VR gaming (and the 4790K still stands up well in 4K and VR too).

I'm similar. I have a PSU and a case. Not buying anything else until I get a graphics card. If I get lucky on one then I will continue my build.

I would fully expect that the current GPU crisis will be ongoing before DDR5 is available and stable for enthusiasts. New motherboards, chipsets, and CPUs to support it all need to built while the worldwide component crisis continues. Expect to buy a DDR5 machine no sooner than late 2022, and 2023 wouldn't be a big surprise.

It's definitely feeling like this. I think I will stick with my current plan of get the best I can in the budget. Even if it means waiting a few months for a lucky find.

would have thought DDR5 would be completely stable..they've been using in in the Xbox one X for last couple years I think? and series x uses DDR6? Or am i thinking wrong thing...mobo's on other hand...I'd wait a year to iron out the kinks so agree with you on that.
