Im going to be putting together a new Rig over the course of the next week or so. I'm not much of an overclocker although I may dip my toes a little bit once this is built. System predominantly for gaming. Here is what I am thinking of. Any potential bottle knecks or problems with the spec below ?

  • Antec 900 Case
  • Intel 6400 "Allendale" Processor
  • Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound Paste
  • OCZ 600Watt GameXstream PSU
  • MSI P975C Platinum power up edition Mobo
  • 2x 1gb Gskill PC2 6400 DDR RAM with 5-5-5-15 Timings
  • 1x 74Gb Raptor
  • 2x 320gb S-ATA II Western Digital HDD's (16mb Cache)
  • Creative X-Fi 7.1 Soundcard
  • XFX 8800GTS XXX OC graphics card

I will be running Vista Ultimate edition - 64 bit and Ubuntu 64 Bit on seperate partition.

Two questions. Will the RAM Timings of 5-5-5-15 effect ssytem performance drastically compared to the lower latency 4-4-4-12. Also what would be the best HSF be for a system like this.

I'd probably suggest something like this as better for overclocking and probably more balanced overall but I've changed a few parts, better PSU, better Ram and a better motherboard for overclocking.

The heatsink and fan comes with all you need to fit it, it comes with a fan controller and thermal paste. I've never tried the Tuniq Tower myself but I believe it is a little bit awkward however it is well worth the trouble for the cooling it gives you. :)
