New PC Build - possible broken PSU - need help

Morning all, having a few problems with new pc. Basicly pressing the power button for the first time resulted in a 1-2 second spin of life from everything plugged in...then nothing. Now its all dead.
The standby lights on the motherboard are on, but even pressing the DIY power switch on the mobo doesnt help.

It's a DFI lanparty NF-4 D, with a Antec 450w PSU. I've tried plugging the psu into another pc and then that one wouldnt start up so im fairly sure its the PSU.

So im clicking my fingers at the moment as to what to do.

Any advice/help?

If you tried it in another and still didn't boot up then yes, pressing the on button and nothing happening is also a pretty sure sign :p

RMA time.
 
Thats what i was thinking. Problem is, the PSU came with the case and sending that back will be a right pain!
Are these Antec truepower PSU's any good?
It's only a 450w, im hoping that is enough to support a 1900XT and 3800 X2 ?

Nothing is wrong mate.

Keep your PSU exactly as it is.

To the "ON" button. You have put the "ON" buttons connectors, the wrong way round on the motherboard.

I did exactly the same, fans spun once, and then nothing else.

Just put the connectors the other way round on the motherboard, or some other way and it will work!

If when he said DIY pwoer switch, he meant like the one on my mobo, you don't need to wire in the front panel to power it up, the board also has a little button on it for testing, PowerON & Reset buttons on mine etc......... no front panel wiring required when troubleshooting... ;)
 
make sure u have all 4 power connecters connected
24 atx connector,
4pin +12v connector (close 2 the atx connector)
floppy power connector, (next 2 the cpu socket)
hard drive power connector (next 2 chipset fan)

u dont say what else u running with it as well, if a lot then u psu will not do the job right, dfi fussy with antes psu :(
 
thanks for replies guys. im waiting on a friend to bring up another PSU for testing.
i dont understand why on this mobo there are HD and floppy power slots???

stabilty, dfi r made for overclocking, many ppl problems arise on these boards with not having these 4 connectors connected, or using psu that just wont do the job on them :)
 
hey guys, shinings mate here (my pc :'().. anyway, its the psu. works fine with my mates one.

cba to rma the whole case.

Off to buy a mew psu!

you obviously dont know what you''re saying, its his psu, thw way the pwr button is conencted doesnt matter, you can even short circuit them manually (what the button does when pressing it), no matter what way theyre conencted it has same effect, all the pwr button does is when pressed connect the 2 pins with eachother, the power buttons work in both directions...


He just said another psu works, he didnt touch the power button cables, so why would one psu work and another doesnt, obviously a broken psu.

haha some funny comments guys.

Anyway, have just come back from a trip to everyones favourite corporate hardware store...got a Jeanteck 500w for 50 quid......so my mates happy.

GONNA GO BUILD!!! laters :)

I happen to have exactly the same problem with exactly the same psu and yes i have a jeantech psu that works.

Anyway i tried changing the on switch connector around and ....... nothing

anyway, the particular e-tailor i am dealing with and antec seem happy for me to return just the psu and not the case.

Yes I am reading the same page.

Well, I know what I mean, it worked for me, same PSU.

Rather you than me spending £50 :)
