Hi all

Today I finished my new pc build. It had about 190 windows updates but I just installed the ones that already had a check in the box

They all installed fine and computer restarted

It goes through post ok and does that windows loading line thing then thats it blank screen

Can anybody help

Its a windows 7 pro 64bit
Asus sabertooth z77 motherboard

Check you bios make sure all is set correct there then perhaps go into safe mode and delete or remove the updates, then set windows updates to user choice, check for updates but you choose what to download and install and install only security updates and it's up to you about the optional ones. Someone might have a better idea than me though.

If you shut down and restart from safe mode does it sort itself out, some updates can be funny until they've cycled through restarts.

I'd then try reinstalling latest graphics drivers.

I think I know whats causing it

I think it might be the intel smart connect update. Iv installed most of the updates now sucessfully I only have a few more to try

You should be able to switch smart connect off in the bios to test that. If its off in the bios it should be off in the os and vs versa.

Could try reducing your screen res in safe mode and see if it will boot into os normally.

Are you using the latest bios and is it specified for W7 and not 8 if there's a separate one, like wise if they have a separate bios for sandy than for ivy cpu's.

Check mobo website for rest of associated drivers like intel management engine and try to ensure your using the version that corresponds with the version that the bios was written for. At least make sure the driver version is equal to or greater than that stated by the bios.
