Just built a new system, dual core / x850xt / 2gb ram blah blah..

Whenever I load into WoW it takes 10-15 seconds for my players to appear? When they load the game runs as it should its just the intial starting.

Any ideas what this could be?

Note : I had this on my spare GeForce 2 card when mine was broken, then replaced that with a 9800 pro which had no problems.

Cheers

its more to do with the latency of your connection to the server.

Nothing to do with your pc. i find pressing the "c" to bring up your toons stats can sometimes make them appear quicker.

Happens on both my quad core 4gb gaming rig and my gaming laptop.

Nothing to worry about really

Ahhh thanks dude... im at my brothers house in Wales so my connection at home might be stronger :)

Cheers

There's a good sticky on network issues on the official WoW forums, I found trying some of the things listed in there helped latency a lot.

Right guys... ive done the following.

Updates NIC drivers / Allowed WoW to bypass Firewall / Made sure ports are forwarded / Edited 2 settings in the NIC options but its still loading slow and my latency is silly high, like 150-200.... wasn't like this with my old build and I just can't put a finger on it!

150-200 ping is imo a good ping to wow. I've never had any better.

Rememebr the servers are located in Europe (France iirc) so the lowest ping your likely to get is 100ms and i would say a ping of 150-200 is spot on

Pardon? ;)

At first log in my latency is around 30-50 then gradually just goes up and up. the other day i was sat there at 700+ and my internet was fine

It was fine on my old build but not on my new "upgrade" one

your ping has very little do with your actual PC specs. As you said, if your at your brothers, his internet might be slower and have a higher latency compared to yours at home.
