New pc build

I don't know about the DS3P but I imagine it's a lot like the DS3. I use the yellow ones first then go to the purple ones. The yellow ones are controlled by the Intel controller.

Thanks BillytheImpaler, can you help me with my other questions?

It doesn't matter what RAM slots you use, just so long as you stick to the same color; both in red slots or both in yellow slots.

It's probably best to plug the fans into the mobo. By doing that the 'board gets to control their speed by varying the input voltage. If you plug straight into the PSU the fans will be at 100% power even when it's unnecessary. That would possibly leave you with more noise than is necessary.

Yer just read this from the sticky

'11)Now install the RAM in the DIMM slots. Where 4 slots exist they are often colour coded. 2 of one colour 2 of another. The most common configuration where 2 sticks of RAM are being used in Dual Channel is one stick in slot 1 (reading left to right with 1 being leftmost and 4 being rightmost) and one stick in slot 3. For other combinations please refer to the relevant section of your motherboard manual.'

Will use the motherboard for the fans then, thanks :)

Not received my graphics card yet, was supposed to be delivered today but it hasn't

Can I power up my build without a graphics card, or should I just wait?

You could, in theory, but it wouldn't do much good without being able to see anything on screen.

Yeah thought so. I was thinking I could just see if everything comes on. Well the fans, and browse the BIOS and get familiar with it.

How would you browse the BIOS with no display? You'd have to have something like a serial console cable and I've seen very consumer boards that feature that.

Well think about it. You wouldn't have a graphics card attached. The graphics card is home to the VGA or DVI ports. Without those ports you wouldn't have anything into which you could attach your monitor's signal cable. With no signal transmitted you'll have a rough time viewing such a signal.
