Getting a new pc is never easy! Even a pre built one.

I had an internal card reader put in my new machine via USB 3. Trouble is my photoshop elements program can't find it. As a matter of fact neither can I!

Any advice?

I feel quite idiotic replying that I have no idea.

So how do I check if it is and if it isn't, how do I install it and where can I get it?!

PS its a Asus P8Z77-V MB

when i installed my Akasa internal card reader Win7 picked it up as different device, i had to go into device manager find something i knew i didn't have and change it over.

worth a check if the drivers don't work.

Stulid - installed the drivers and no change.

deadite66 - when you say go into device manager and "change it over", what do you mean?

The card reader seems to be showing up in device manager under disk drives as a generic USB CRW device with 5 listings showing each of the types of card it reads.

Problem is the computer us not seeing it in my computer or my elements program is not seeing it either.

if it's showing up correctly in device manager then that's how it should be, mine showed up as something stupid like an ir remote control (iirc) until i changed it over.

Have you put a flash card in one of the slots? Most modern card reader chipsets/drivers hide the drive letter unless a card is inserted.

I did think of that - CF card properly inserted so that the card reader's green light comes on, but still no show in my computer.

Just to check it is not the card I have very easily put the photos on to my other PC no probs.

Just an update. My SD card from my video camera works fine. As soon as I plug it in it's visible in my computer.

My CF card also becomes visible if I connect to my old plug and play card reader so the card is fine.

Why can't my new Akasa see my CF card?
