New pc doesn't work...!

try booting without the gfx card in (your motherboard has onboard gfx , so one less item to worry about if theres no other gfx card)
if nothing happens try booting with only one ram stick
if nothing happens try just the other ram stick
if nothing happens try booting with no ram. (most motherboards will beep even if they wont boot, aslong as you have a motherboard speaker connected)

if your confident in your abilities try this with the PSU

The op psu is ok as they have tried it in another pc, Usually does dead RAM not started the pc? As in the past my systems have booted with faulty memory and showed CPU speed ect but failed on the memory count.

its whack.

its been known to be DOA

Absolutely any component can be doa. Bloody stupid comment.

If the speaker is attached, does it beep? How about when the ram is missing?

I've had faulty ram stop a system booting, but i agree working to a limited extent would be more likely.

ocz gold has more bad comments about it than any other component.

No personal attacks!

Well its either the psu, mobo or ram. Psu is decent so that's unlikely. With the mobo, you generally get some functionality so I'd take a long hard look at the ram. Also any problems installing th cpu?

Check that the risers(?) between the case and the mobo are lined up perfectly. It's been know that if one is slightly askew it could give you the appearance of being DOA. :)

I put my new PSU in the other day, hit the on button, didn't power up. Was like WTF... little later I noticed the PSU arrived with the power switch off. -_-

hmm ok, have returned the motherboard to OCUK and they've returned it saying there's nothing wrong.

Now I'm truly baffled!??!

Anyone got an idea what could be wrong here? Never seen something like this before...

Have you tried shorting the power switch pins on the motherboard with a metal screwdriver? maybe your case connector is faulty or something and it's just not getting the message to turn on? even with something faulty there's usually at least a split second of activity.

Start small Motherboard / CPU / RAM [ one stick ] And GFX Card & PSU only see if it works eg.. Enters Bio's , make sure No other stuff pluged in to the Motherboard or PSU
If it doesn't the problems with one of these
If it does it something else
If you have Access to other GFX Card and ram and stuff trying the new stuff in the old system can help find a problem

Make sure your not putting the connectors in the worng place some of todays PSU's wont power on if it detects a problem eg.. two power leads conecting to the same power spliter lead

Another Way to check the psu is to have a Fan pluged in to it and power it on without it pluged in to the motherboard Go Here to see how if the fan spins ok then it should be ok

If its not even posting / turning on then it will have to be a power related issue.

Now, as you've ruled out the psu itself and the mobo is fine i'm betting you forgot spacers or the mobo needs some washers between it and the case try it outside of the case on a wooden surface.

My bet is on Earthing.

If it was a problem with ram or gpu the MB would still boot.

As there is no life at all either the MB is getting power or its not reciving the signal to power up or it is not powering up to protect itself.

Things to check

Standoffs in right position and nothing else shorting the MB
Bypass power switch
Check there is power from the cpu by putting in another rig.

make sure the power switch on the psu is on.
make sure the 24pin and 8 pin is connected.
make sure the pwr switch from the case is properly connected on motherboard

even if no cpu or ram, the mb should show some sort of life
