I want to build my own PC, But I am finding all the different choices a bit too overwhelming, I'm not that into overclocking or anything as I basically just want to know what sort of set up I will need for backing up my Blu Rays, Playing Football Manager and C&C, 1404 type games and the usual rubbish, I do not mind spending a fair amount if it will be worth it.

I don't need a monitor, mouse or keyboard, I will be hooking it up to my Samsung TV through either HD or SVGA.

Also if anyone knows anything about networking, How can I go about host a Football Manager game with more than the 16 Hamachi free allows (if I buy it apparently 256 people) is it an internet issue or a server issue?

Thanks in advance.

"fair amount it it will be worth it.." = just about any non-bleeding edge build.

You're best setting a budget (say, under £500 or under £1K). Also, what resolution is your monitor (as this will impact on the choice of GPU)

This is what I am looking at so far, Is it good/worth the money/compatible?

Pioneer BDR-S03XLB 8x BD-ReWriter / 16x DVD±RW Drive - Black (Retail) £188.99

Intel Core i5 661 3.33GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £163.99

Asus P7P55D Pro Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £142.99

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £126.99

Samsung EcoGreen F2 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD154UI) x2 £157.96

Akasa AK-CC017 Freedom Tower CPU Cooler (Socket AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1156 /1366) £28.99

Well what you have looks good, should be more than enough for your requirements but you are currently looking at around £810 for that lot - you may also need RAM/Case/OS/PSU which will push the budget over 900 if you are looking at getting similar quality stuff. If 900 is a hard limit to your budget you may want to scale back on some things to be able to meet it, unless you already have these parts sorted in which case nevermind.

I have the case and software sorted, I forgot about the RAM completely and the PSU I am some what undecided over.

Thanks for your help so far guys

THANKS

Thanks for all the help and advice guys, in the end I went with Titan Theo and upgraded the RAM, Harddrive and graphics card, I wanted to do it all myself but this was too cheap and too easy not to take advantage of.

Thanks again
Greg

Hope you're happy with it :) It's a nice system and should be quite capable of playing the games you're into. Out of interest which graphics card did you go for?
