New PC for Ableton Live. Will this Work?

Have decided to build a new pc for running Ableton Live as my old Pentium 4 is becoming a bit slow.

Would these work well together.

Asus P5E Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard;

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail;

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK);

HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT ICEQ3 512MB GDDR4 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail;

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK);

I already have a Lian Li case and would be using my existing Seagate SATA drives. Also, I have the RME Multiface which I think could be used in a PCI slot.

I have factored in the new power supply but now sure if I really need one as I already have a 480 Antec True power but this was purchased about 3 years ago to run a P4C800-E mobo. Not sure if the ATX power connectors would be suitable for the P5E mobo.

Can anyone comment on the above.

No idea what alvberton live requires. But the specs looks good. you could get away with a 500w psu if you wanted to save some money and I wouldn't touch ati cards. I would get a 8800 instead.

What are the system requirements for Live 7?
The minimum system requirements for Live 7 are as follows:

Macintosh:
Any G4 or faster (Intel Mac recommended)
512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
Mac OS X 10.3.9 (10.4 or later recommended)
QuickTime 6.5 or higher
DVD-ROM drive

PC:
1.5 GHz CPU or faster
512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
Windows XP or Windows Vista
QuickTime 6.5 or higher
Windows-compatible soundcard (preferably with an ASIO driver)
DVD-ROM drive

------------------

4GB for windows vista i would say :)

I'm not really sure that you would need an X38 motherboard, a P35 would do the job cheaper. Ableton uses multiple cores extremely well so stick to that Q6600 but get 4 gigs of RAM, particularly when using vista, when you have a project with a few high quality audio files/samplers open, you'll thank me.

Out of curiosity, what kind of music do you make?

I thought about the x38 board because it is xfire and I do like to play some games sometime. I don't intend moving to vista yet. As for style of music. Minamal Electro House would be a good decription but this is not set in stone.
