I bought my last computer from overclockers the 'titan krypt' but ive come into some money and I'd like to upgrade.

Ive read that buying individual parts is cheaper than buying a pre built pc like I did last time. Is it possible to pay for Overclockers to build parts I've bought?

I have no clue about computers but if someone could make me up a gaming computer for me I would really appreciate it. I will be using it for gaming such as WoW/Assassin Creed and similar games and hoping to have it on better graphics than I have now.

Thanks in advance

Luke

what are your current pc specs? you may be able to reuse some parts.
do you need os/keyboard/mouse/monitor?

Need nothing but the computer and have an operating system from my old PC, will that work?

System specs from that last computer I bought from OC are;

Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 850 Processor, 3300 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

RAM 8GB

Video Card - Sapphire Radeon HD 6770

System Model M68MT-S2 I think?

My knowledge of computers is really low and im not very confident in moving parts myself.

re: os you can transfer the os from your old computer to your new computer if you have the serial number. you may need to ring microsoft's customer services to get it activated though.
re: ocuk building your custom rig. they can, for a charge, just call them and they'll give you a quote

I dont mind spending up to say 100 pounds more if it's going to be a huge difference. I want this system too last me 4/5 years. Thanks for the help, really appreciating it.

You may not be able to transfer your Windows license - it may be locked to your current PC. Anyway, you may well be able to get away with just a GPU upgrade. The obvious choices are the Radeon R9 290 and Geforce GTX 780.

I think your PC has an Asus M4A78LT-M 760G motherboard so upgrading the CPU to a Phenom II X6 will give you a nice boost without costing a lot ( < £100). (Note you may need to upgrade the BIOS.)

A SSD will make your PC seem a lot snappier and some come with software to clone your current HDD to the SSD.

The critical component is the GPU. Get that first - I suggest a Geforce 780 or R9 290 - and see if you get the in-game performance you require. It should literally be a plug-in replacement for your current card. And, if it turns out you need a much faster CPU, then a full upgrade should be considered and the new GPU transferred to the new system. If you don't, then treat yourself to a SSD and possibly a CPU upgrade.

I have been told that Superflower is a poor quality power supply, is this true?

Also is the cost between the 290 and the 290X worth the price?

Superflower are excellent. They make some of the best psu's around (EVGA Supernova G2, Superflower Leadex etc)

The 290x isn't worth the extra over the 290.

My freind recommended the following build to me. Do you guy see any flaws?

That cooler might not fit in the Zalman, as the case is only 192mm wide.

The Ram has tall heatspreaders which might not fit under the cooler. I would go with some low profile stuff, such as the Teamgroup vulcan.

The Gigabyte 290 is the same price as the msi, and the warranty support is better (UK Based).

I can't find the max cpu cooler height for the Zalman, so you might be best asking ocuk customer services for something that will definately fit.
