Hi,
I want to buy a new PC but I'm on a budget. DELETED COMPETITOR have this one for 499, but I'm mainly concerned about the graphics card being rubbish (onboard card). The spec is:

Intel® Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor (2.4GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache) Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
4GB DDR2 667MHz memory
640GB SATA hard drive (7200rpm)
NVIDIA® GeForce® 7050 onboard graphics
Dual Layer DVD Rewriter

It doesnt say how much memory the graphics has. Any ideas? I want this for gaming. I hcan only buy from DELETED COMPETITOR too as they gave me vouchers after my laptop was ritten off in an insurance claim.

Also, how does the core 2 quad 2.4 ghz processor compare to the pentium 4 2.8ghz that i had in my laptop?

Thanks,
Pete

cpu wise, its like comparing night to day, the q6600 will walk all over the p4 at stock.

Whats the make/model number?

The onboard graphics is terrible and uses system RAM. All you'd have to is upgrade to a dedicated PCI-e card and you're laughing BUTyou must make sure the PSU is up to it and that you have a PCI-e slot!

Cairnsey

EDIT - Yeah, the C2Q walks all over the P4 mate, even if you clocked the P4 up to 4Ghz, the quad qill destroy it at stock! It's ashame you won't be able to overclock the Quad (I presume)

are you buildign it yourself?

No, buying it from DELETED COMPETITOR s a package. How about the graphics? Is that any good for gaming? any idea what memory it'll be?

Yeah the board is a denver board based on the Nvidia 7050 IGP - performance wise, gaming will be abysmal BUT, it does have a 16xPCI-e slot so you can upgrade the graphics easily enough. If only I could find more info on the PSU....

This will be the PSU

FSP FSP250-60HEN 250W - 3 molex, 1 sata, 20/24pin ATX and a 4pin CPU connector

Wouldn't upgrade the graphics card without finding another mATX PSU with some beef behind it, could be tricky...

Unless you want the hassle and cost of buying the said PC, dropping the internals into a new ATX Case with suitable PSU and upgrading the graphics card (you'd still be left with a terrible motherboard unless you want to replace that as well?!)

I'd consider another PC.......

As above how about exchange vouchers for cash and DIY from here?

Hyundai Blue H H94W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4550 512MB
Samsung SpinPoint F1 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Antec Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Hiper 425W HPU-4S425 Silent ATX2.01 PSU
Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter
OcUK 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

Delivered all for 499.20

Same specs all over, except :-

**you have a graphics card(can anyone suggest better than this for budget)
** Processor is E5200 dual rather than q6600 quad
** This has DDR800 rather than 667

Only thing missing is Keyboard/Mouse?

You could drop this a further £20ish by going for a cheaper case(not any in stock here atm mores the pity, but you could get the rest)

Do you have anything currently to use(monitor, OS etc)?

*Brainwave* Sell your vouchers for £400 cash and get a PC from OcUK!

I'm liking your idea, ive just put some ads up offering the vouchers for £375.

direemblem's system looked okay. i have winxp home ed that i could use instead of paying £65 for vista, plus i can add another £50 into the budget. what improvements would you recomend with this extra £115? (mainly want system for gaming).

Cheers for your help guys!

pete.
