Hi Guys

I am looking at building a new machine, I have a rough Idea of what I want, so i will post it, and let me know if you think something should be changed and why. I intend to watercool the machine as i would like to overclock, I am however wondering about ram. I want 4GB, probably in a 2 x 2GB arrangement, but I am confused by the timings etc. Im guessing DDR 8500? Pls advise:

Spec so far:
Q6600 Quad Core G0 (is that the SLACR one?)
Asus P5Q-E Motherboard
4 Gb Ram
BFG GTX 260 GFX Card
Hiper Osiris Case (or would the Antec nine hundred be better for fitting in watercooling?
2 x 500GB Samsung Spinpoint F1's
Pioneer 215DBK
Logitech MX518 Mouse
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU
Not sure on what watercooling setup yet (any Tips?)

Now the next question is Monitor, I am looking at the Hanns-G 28" at £270 ish, but it has a TN panel, or do i go for the cheaper OCUK 24" which has a PVA Panel? My current monitor has an IPS Panel but is only 20.1 inch

Is the G15 motherboard much better than the G11?

What speakers? and should I get a proper sound card or are the Built in sound cards okay nowadays?

Is there much merit to watercooling the Chipset aswell as the cpu, or would a chipset heatsink and fan suffice? best to leave GFX card cooling alone for now?

I want to keep my budget as close to £1000 as possible, it's going to go over, but not by much hopefully

The Asus P5Q-E Motherboard runs cool as new 45nm and its well cooled by the Heatpipes.

I just built one for a customer and there is no need to swap out its cooling.

Ok, so the mobo is good,

Why not watercooling? I was intending to push the Q6600 as far as I can, if I am to increase the voltage, is an air cooled setup really going to keep the temp down enough?

All I can say about the keyboards is that the G15 is somewhat smaller than the 11, A high res screen and more display options. I have the G15 and am very pleased with it.

If you are going for water cooling the Nzxt Tempest is better than either you have suggested. Get the 4gb Geil Pc2-6400c5 as seen this running with fast timings and why a 260gfx card as 4850 or 4870 best bang for buck at the moment. Rest of the kit seems fine and the G15 is great.

Ok Thanks will look into that case.

Do the new ATI cards not run a bit hotter? The main reason was for the new physx support with the 260.

do you guys think the 4870 is better than the GTX260?

Thanks

Ok I see why you said about the tempest case, I think I may go with that one after various reviews, but you need a psu with long cables as the psu goes at the bottom, reccomend any?
