New PC - messed up!

Bah, gone into repair mode again and can't repair.

Spent hours and hours on set up and trying to fix.

Looks like I'm returning it.

How much did it set you back? OCUK probably stock comparable, or would do a build for you if you didn't want to do it yourself. Just make sure they don't bundle in a Kolink PSU if you go for the prebuild route from them, they're sadly a standard for the company and hot garbage.

Plenty of people can give you a spec to meet your budget.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £647.93 (includes delivery: £7.99)

The 6600 isn't quite as good as the 3060, but at least you know all of the other components are decent. I'd personally spring the extra for 32gb of RAM and consider bumping up to a 6700XT should funds allow.

Still a very capable machine for 1080P regardless.

I'm sure I've seen the 5700X for the same price as the 5600 listed, but OCUK seem to have put the price back up.

nah. not worth it. the 5600g is basically the ryzen 4500 with an IGPU
runs slower than the 3600 (and definitely slower than the 12400)
might as well get the 4500 and save £50, or get the 5500 for better performance whilst still saving £20

Already edited it lol, I was half asleep and assumed it was the 5600.

see my post below for a better rounded spec closer to budget

£90 dearer than the ebay refurb you got, but this is what i'd spend my money on
compared to the ebay build:
equivalent performance cpu
16 gb ram rather than 8gb
6650xt is 10-15% faster than the 3060 (but less RTX performance/DLSS if that matters to you)
1tb nvme pcie 4 ssd vs 256gb (lol pointless)

swap the cpu to a ryzen 5500 and will be within spitting distance of the ebay refurb (but with actual warranty)

compared to the ebay build:
slightly slower cpu performance (12400 is slightly faster)
16 gb ram rather than 8gb - massive upgrade imo
6650xt is 10-15% faster than the 3060 (but less RTX performance/DLSS if that matters to you)
1tb nvme pcie 4 ssd vs 256gb (256gb ssd is a pointless afterthought) - again, a massive upgrade
wifi is slower

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £630.37 (includes delivery: £11.99)

edit: added wifi

Looking at those, I'll also need an OS? How much do ocuk charge to build too?

Never done a self build.
oh :/
ocuk charge about £150-ish
OS can be bought cheaply elsewhere which is why not many of us spec it into the build

i think if you want to save yourself the hassle, and don't want to build one, you should get a prebuilt
ofc a new prebuilt will not match that performance of the ebay refurb
unless you want to get another refurb/used pc
