Hey

I'm in need of a new setup and don't have the time to build it myself right now.

I have a Windows key but otherwise no parts to move to the new build.

I would be very grateful to you guys if you could suggest a new build for under £1500 built to order.

Thank you.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The PC would be for gaming primarily as my current PC is beginning to struggle with newer titles.

I've already got a monitor and keyboard etc.

I'm basically hoping for advice on getting the most bang for my buck on a gaming PC.

I'm basically hoping for advice on getting the most bang for my buck on a gaming PC.
For 1080p or 1440p, I'd go for something like this, assuming that you don't have any secondary CPU intensive work (take note of my changes to the base spec!).

My basket at OcUK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Oxygen - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, GeForce RTX 4060Ti Gaming PC (SKU: FS-1BZ-OG) = £1,289.09
    • Case: 1 x SYSTEM OFFER - APNX Creator C1 Blue Mist Limited Edition Mid Tower Case
    • Memory: 1 x Corsair Vengeance EXPO 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C36 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK32GX5M2B5600Z36)
    • Graphics Card: 1 x SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon™ RX 7800 XT Gaming Graphics Card with 16GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA™ 3 architecture
    • M.2 Solid State Drive: 1 x WD Black SN770 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS200T3X0E)
    • Operating System: 1 x Build Stock Microsoft Windows 11 Home Advanced - Systems

Total: £1,289.09 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Just to ensure you'll get a decent upgrade, what CPU and GPU do you own now?

Review of the CPU:

Graphics:

I'd also look at the 7900 GRE, but unfortunately that's not available in the configurator for the PC I suggested:

What are the exact specs of your current PC?

You say that you don't have time to do a build right now, which is fair enough, but you might be able to just pop in a new CPU and GPU and potentially have a better outcome.

Neither would take more than 15-20 minutes of your time, less than dealing with a totally new Windows install in fact.

If you get a pre-built PC like the one Tetras sugested, ask OCUK to swap out the PSU to something like the one in Craig_d1's spec.

Think the provided one will be a very budget Kolink that i would not use.

Good Evening,

Thank you all so much for taking the time to help, currently I'm running

Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 3696 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super
32gb ddr3 ram
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB M.2 Gaming SSD

Honestly not sure what the PSU is but it is about 10 years old and was already recycled into this current build.

That's actually pretty decent, better than I was expecting. Most games should run reasonably well.

Can you elaborate on which games are you having problems and the monitor you have?

Depending on the above you might well be fine with just a GPU upgrade, I'd lean toward AMD due to driver overhead and better mid range options.

A 6800 can be had for £370 which would give you very healthy uplift over your current and match fairly well with your setup.

Oh okay brilliant.

In that case could you suggest which GPU and PSU would be a good upgrade. Also is it worth my time to change the ddr3 to ddr5?

Don't know why I had it in my head it needed to be a new build.

Thanks again for your advice.

I will do that when I get home.

My current monitor is 1920x1080 240hz. Though don't think I'm running games at 240hz.

Sorry for being vague.

That's fine something like a 4070 or a 7800xt would at least double your performance over the 1660 and would allow you to game at 1440p if you decide to upgrade your monitor.

Both will cost around £500 .

Do you haven't preference for Nvidia or AMD ?

Sounds great.

No I don't have a preference of GPU brand.

Below is a couple of options so read some reviews etc before you decide. There are plenty of options if you want to spend

PSU get the Seasonic Focus GX 750W £90
