Hi guys I just bought my new computer parts from OCUK today the specs of my machine are as follows

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle + World in Conflict Game £486.94 1 £486.94

Gainward GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £313.03 1 £313.03

Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK) £83.47 1 £83.47

Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU) £82.60 1 £82.60

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD5001AALS) £40.86 1 £40.86

the system assembly went very smoothly until I had to turn the thing on everything powered up except there was no display on the tft screen and the lights at the back of the 295GTX was that the green light was on but not the light at the bottom which I believe is a blue one also the GPU fan does not spin... has anyone had this problem... I personally believe the card is dead and will be ringing the guys on Monday possibly RMA :( gutted as I wanted to fire up the system....

I had a similar problem with a new build earlier in the year. It turned out the psu was dead, it was also a corsair 750w

yes

I have tried the graphics card in the other pcie slots still the same symptoms. I will now insert a 9800 gtx in mobo and see if that works and insert the 295gtx in another machine let you know of the results..if the psu was faulty wouldnt the other components struggle to power up..

....?????

For some strange reason I took out the 295 graphics card and inserted it into another machine and it worked then took it out and put it back into my machine and hey presto it started working.... I have installed vista 64 bit... is there any software out there which will show detail information on my set up e.g. cpu clock frequency, cpu temp, memory timings cas, gpu info etc?? also in DX diag its showing 8 cores at 2.70ghz when in bios im running 4 cores at 4ghz each... thanks guys for the help so far system is running ok...

p.s. is there any software out there which stresses your system and displays temps etc and stability???

Everest is a great program for monitoring tempertaures, voltages of various bits and pieces and for system stats.
It has a couple of stress test built in, but for processor workout the Intel Burn Test v2.2 using linpack seems to dominate.

I had the SAME problem ...day i built mine , no display ..board was working as it cameup with FF ..full functional .
The green light on card would be on but not the blue one ...so tried everything .
In the end took the machine to overclockers and they found the card was faulty .

As you now have it working guess that is not the case ....have had mine not power up .. once since and all i did was remove it and put it back in reseating it properly and works fine now

Hope this helps

Karlos we have identical specs :) what fps are u getting in graphic intensive games crysis etc... also have u noticed that in the Bios the init displayfirst (in integrated peripherals) is set to PCI and not PCIeX16 (PEG) which is where my graphics card is plugged into. would this affect anything? and what are your average cpu temps on stress and non-stress conditions? personally i think the cpu runs too hot in this rig at the current overclock settings even with the Fenrir cooler im thinking of getting a zalman tower watercooler dedicated to the cpu cooling..

...

also pal can u post pics of ur cable management for antec 902 front and back as i had an absolute pain in organising the cables at the back so that the back side panel closes without any strain. the corsair 750 watt supply has a tone of cables and not being modular nearly drove me up the wall sorting the cables out at the back but the front inside of the case is well neat. also did u have a problem inserting the 12v atx powersupply cable next to the heatsink from behind the motherboard near the top fan? as i found it almost impossiable to do so i looped that cable throught the inside of the case..

well as for the PCI /PCIex16 , i was told that it does not matter if you have it set to PCI or PCIex16 .
My first bundle had it set to PCIex16 but the replacement has it set to PCI ....so guess it does not make any difference.

Frame rate ...not tested on crysis as not installed it on this rig .... but most games i have run on it so far are very smooth and everything at max .

CPU runs at around 50c when playing World In Crisis ....under prime it hits a max of around 84c which i was told is norm for a 4ghz overclock ....but expect it to be a bit lower in the cooler weather ....but as its at around 50c playing games then im not worried

Cable were a bit tight on side panel , not much you can do about that , if i get time i will try and take a pic , the atx one i ran up the side of the rear exhaust fan cable tie it too it ....and just fits nicely .
the main power to board when round back and through the hole ...most others went round the back too

hope that helps

i tried a fan on the side of the case , did not really make a difference so removed it ....had to hack the fan anyway to get it in as it hits the titan cooler

To be honest I wouldn't worry about the CPU temps, they wouldn't offer the system as a bundle if it wasn't a safe temp for it to run at. Plus if you're using it as a gaming system (I can only assume you are) there's no game on the market that will push that CPU to 100% load all the time.
