New pc to replace sandy@4400

Hi,

Looking to buy parts and build a new pc next week for gaming.

Current rig is a sandy2500k@4400
Hd6950
8gb ram etc.

New modified requirement at the bottom.

A 2600k CPU or 3770k and a 7970 gpu? Or a newer R280

Okay, need advice on a few parts now, I need:

A PSU
Motherboard, I like MSI
Processor (assume Haswell 4670K will be fine for gaming)
Ram - 8 gig
Cooler

Will probably overclock a little on the Haswell.

I have the Matrix 7970 Platinum, so do I need to be concerned with RAM height? This will be going in a Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced, as I like these case, assuming the GPU will fit.

Why don't you keep the 2500k and just get a more powerful GPU? The 2500k is still a very capable processor (not much more than 10% slower than current gen).

I have a more powerful GPU already now, see above, but need other components to build a tower.

And modular PSUs around that price that are decent?

Not sure on the cooler at all though
