new pc won't boot to bios!

So I have helped my friend build.his pc and we finally have everything together connected properly and it was able to boot to say that abuse drive we plugged in had no os.however we have tried booting without and it skips the bios and goes to a black screen with a mouse pointer on the bottom right, however we cannot use the mouse nor the keyboard. Any help?

His specs are: amd a10 7850k, gigabyte f2a88xn-wifi, 4gb 1333Mhz ram (1 stick that he borrowed from me )1tb hdd corsair 650m powersupply

No we have not but it should just boot to bios and as I said I cannot use the keyboard so delete doesn't work and the motherboard logo doesn't even appear on screen

We booted windows from usb however we still can't access the bios

Is the MOBO brand new? If not, could try clearing the CMOS.

It likely won't help, but it's what i'd try next.

Somehow I think I'm wrong here but could this be caused by the bios not recognising the cpu? The cpu stated is only supported since the 2nd revision bios.

Or could it be a ram issue as you're mixing sticks?

We have installed Windows and we can see the partition in the windows installer, however it can't boot windows and I think this is a bios problem

You can't on that mobo. However if you have managed to install windows I don't think its relevant now sorry.

What version of windows is it?

We cant open windows...and 7 ultimate

No but you've installed it so it's made it past POST already. So it's highly unlikely it doesn't recognise cpu.

Unplug the hard drive and turn it on. See if it whinges about no drives connected.

Quick google suggests its a failed win 7 install; but that can't be the issue with the HDD unplugged

Not familiar with your mobo, but are there any any red leds showing on the board?

You could try removing the Cmos battery for about 15 minutes or so, see if that works.

I am no longer with him however I will try that and if that doesn't work we will have to get a different mobo
