New PC Won't Boot

Would not having the 4pin EPS cable plugged in, cause the pc not to start?

Its a Gigabyte AMD Ryzen X570 AORUS ULTRA AM4 PCIe 4.0 ATX Motherboard
Full spec please. If a 5000 series cpu the motherboard will need a bios flash to latest bios using the flashback feature or the cpu will not be recognised.

Would have to be unlucky to still get board without Zen3 BIOS support.
(at least in better selling models)

Some have needed to clear CMOS to get PC to power.
So that would be one thing to try.

But some problem would equally likely.
Would be best to try with minimum parts (no drives) connected just to see if you can get into BIOS.

its a 5900x, the board is rev1.2 but literally nothing happens when I try to power it on.
corsair HX850
The EPS cable i have from cablemod is an 8pin, which I've already got an 8 pin cable plugged in. There is only an extra 4pin left, so I don't think its that

I put the thing on the 24 pin that allows the power to run without being attached to the motherboard and everything powers up! but theres no water in there anymore so i had to turn it off immediately.

The original 8 pin cable should split into a 4+4 pin cable. Plug that in as well as the full 8 pin. You might also consider eliminating the CableMod cable from the equation, just in case. You should have two EPS cables with that PSU, so use them both (one as 8 pin, the other as 4 pin).

yeah that was worth checking, I've done that now and its still the same, I'm using the default 24-pin and cpu cables that came with the HX850. I've ordered a standalone power switch to test if that is the problem. The side with the little triangle on is supposed to be positive is my understanding. would it matter if I switched them, would it blow anything? (the power switch on the mobo FPANEL)

I did notice a light blue flash on the top left corner of the mobo you can see it here, this flash happens the second i turn it on.: https://1drv.ms/v/s!ApDZ5zl1onU8gt1UQG_HBb5SmxKr0g

Does it matter that I am not using any fan headers on the mobo, might that be stopping it?

The polarity doesn't matter for the power or reset buttons.

You have checked the psu power switch is on, right?

I have been able to emliminate PSU and PSU cables. I have now taken the mobo out of the case, removed the CPU and RAM, plugged in the 24pin and CPU pin and ran Q-Flash Plus to update it to the latest bios (F34) just in case the default bios when it was shipped did not recognise the 5900x cpu.

I have put the CPU and RAM back in. If I plug the 24pin and 8 pin back in again and use a screwdriver to connect the 2 PWR panel pins that should theoretically power everything up? Its a monoblock so there should be a minute or so of cooling?

You got the ram in correct slots

It should boot with this method, yes.

I don't know anything about water cooling.
